Come gather 'round Fellows wherever you roam,
And will somebody please get Tom Kuhn on the phone,
And tell him it's happenin': Fred Skinner is gone,
And Behaviorism's past savin'.
Now it's Cognitive Science, thanks to Alfred P. Sloan,

For the paradigms, they are a-changin'!


Come writers and critics who prophecies with your pen,
And keep your eyes wide the chance won't come again
To see robot contraptions pretend to be men,
While tournament chess they are playin'.
Now the world will be run by a PDP-10!

For the paradigms, they are a-changin'!


Come all you Humanists, throughout the land,
And don't criticize what you can't understand.
Dreyfus and Weizenbaum's books will be banned,
While Minsky and Simon are ragin'.
If you can't speak in LISP, you're dismissed out of hand.

Come Senators, Congressmen please heed the call,
And all you grant agencies get on the ball!
It takes lots of money to think, after all,
When the Sloan Foundation is payin',
What with two-hour lunches and then volleyball.

For the paradigms, they are a-changin'!


So come on you Fellows and join in our song.
The trough is now full, but it won't be for long.
Paradigms only last till they're shown to be wrong,
And the next fad is in the wings waitin'.
Soon they'll find out what we've known all along!
